Welcome to Cambridge Medical Society
Cambridge Medical Society is an organisation of local doctors, of all ages and specialities, which holds monthly dinners and other social and educational events. Anyone is welcome to join; please see the membership page for details.
About the Society
Since its foundation in 1880 the Cambridge Medical Society has provided instruction, entertainment and friendship for generations of Cambridge doctors, including GPs and consultants from all disciplines.
The Society arranges around 8 meetings a year, at approximately monthly intervals. These usually take the form of an evening meal in a college (at very reasonable cost) followed by a lecture. In addition, there are social and musical events, the annual Clinical School Lecture, a joint meeting with the Cambridge Law Society and an annual dinner with an invited speaker.
Our Purpose
Good company and stimulating discussion is all we seek, accompanied wherever possible by decent food and wine. However, in an age where we see less and less of each other socially, the society provides an opportunity to meet colleagues from both hospital and community.
We are always keen to hear of possible future events. This may be speakers that members have heard elsewhere, or ideas for musical, artistic or just plain fun events. Do please contact us if you would like to suggest future topics.
Not Yet a Member?
Non-members are welcome to join us at our events as a 'sampler' before joining. Opportunities for you to then join the Society will be available at each of these!
